Founded in 2011 by Ashely Eden the Growing Whole Reiki Institute is privileged to offer Usui Reiki Training, continued Mentorship that goes beyond the classroom, support and encouragement for deepening your Personal Reiki Practice, support and encouragement for developing a Professional Reiki Practice for those who choose to share this gift, and an Extended Reiki Curriculum for all those who have completed their Reiki Master’s training with the Growing Whole Reiki Institute.

about the Lineage

Reiki is an energetic technology that was developed in Japan in the late 1890s by Dr. Usui. Reiki is something one needs to be initiated into. This means that a Reiki Master Teacher has learned how to prepare and open someones’ energetic system safely to be able to pass down this energetic wisdom through a traditional sacred ceremony known as attunements. Attunements are the energetic transfer of this energetic technology and wisdom and are an integral part of each Reiki Level.

The linage that your Reiki Master Teacher holds speaks to the purity and strength of this energetic technology.

Ashley was fortunate to study with a Reiki Teacher who had a very pure and strong Usui Reiki Lineage with the strength of 6 Reiki Master Teachers descendant from Dr. Usui himself. This means that Ashley can trace her Reiki Lineage back to Dr.Usui with only 6 Reiki Masters Teachers between herself and Dr. Usui. This gives the Usui Reiki, Ashley offers, a potency and purity that other Reiki Teachers in the west often lack. For this reason many people who have taken their Usui Reiki Training with someone else, often chose to reinitiate in the Growing Whole Usui Reiki Lineage.

Who Would benefit from learning Reiki

Ashley believes Reiki is an amazing energetic hygiene technology that will benefit anyone deeply. Reiki training is highly recommended for anyone working in spaces where they deal with a lot of people on a regular basis, including body workers, counsellors, health care workers, HR representatives, business owners, managers, customer services representatives, teachers, social workers and politicians to name a few professions. The reason why Reiki is recommended for people with jobs that interact regularly with a lot of different people is because you can “pick up” energetically things from others. Learning Reiki gives you a tool you can use in the comfort of your daily life to cleanse, clear and protect your energetic field from other peoples’ energies.

I have taken my Reiki Training with someone else can I jump into Level 2 Or 3 with Growing Whole?

If you wish to train and receive the Growing Whole Usui Reiki Lineage you will need to start from Growing Whole Reiki Level One. This is to ensure that everyone in each course has the same level of care, wisdom, and education in order to create a safe container for all.

Why are there prerequisites for your Growing Whole Reiki Courses?

Prerequisites are there to ensure that everyone attending each Growing Whole Reiki Level has same level of care, wisdom, and education to create a safe container for all.

About Ashley’s Journey with Reiki

Ashley found Reiki (or Reiki found Ashley) 17 years ago. Ashley at the time was in a deep state of grief from the death of 4 of her friends from a tragic car accident. Due to this tragedy, Ashley was debilitated by her grief.

On a visit to Calgary to see her family, her mother concerned for her daughter’s health and safety, and at a loss on how to support her daughter, booked her a massage with a trusted friend and client. Ashley, wavering in her grief, unsure of how to care for herself, accepted the session. At the very end of the session, the massage therapist did a few minutes of Reiki over Ashley’s heart. Immediately, Ashley felt relief from the debilitating broken heart she had been grieving for the loss of her friends. Once she got off the massage therapist’s table - she asked - “What was that at the end?” the massage therapist said: “That was Reiki you can learn it yourself” .

A few days later, back home in Vancouver, browsing through the weekly Georgia Straight she saw an add that said “Learn Reiki”. She called the number and started her Usui Reiki Level One Training within a week … and as they say the rest is history(or maybe her-story).

She studied with this Reiki Teacher for two and half years, during which she herself received weekly Reiki Sessions from her Teacher for two and half years. She completed her Reiki Masters Certification within the first 6 months of working with her Teacher, and Eight years from her initial Reiki Level One Certification, she completed her Reiki Masters Teacher Training Certification and founded the Growing Whole Reiki Institute.

For Ashley, Reiki is a gift she is able to use daily in her life to support her health, wellness and healing. Reiki is a deep sacred tool for self development and after 8 years of Personal Reiki Practice she then opened up a Professional Reiki Practice.

For this reason the Growing Whole Reiki Institute’s primary focus is on self development and self healing. A Professional Reiki Practice is something that may be birthed from your love of the Art of Reiki but is not the goal of working with Ashley or the Growing Whole Reiki Institute.

Reiki is a very personal practice and who you chose to learn from is a very personal choice. Ashley understands that some may feel called to work with other Reiki Master Teachers and supports everyone on their personal Reiki journey.

Contradictions

Please note that Ashley does not work with clients who have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, Schizophrenia and anyone who participates regularly in Plant Medicine Ceremonies (particularly Ayahuasca). Consistent use of Plant Medicine, Schizophrenia and Borderline Personality Disorder are contraindicative to Growing Whole’s work.
